8th Grade... the older boy

I knew posting this one after the previous post today called 5th grade would lead people to think it's the same kiddo.... but it's not!  That was my younger son, this is the older one

band

ok so when I first saw Creative Scrapper Sketch #240, I really didn't like it at all but I decided to really challenge myself to use it and while it's taken me all evening & a little bit of the afternoon to accomplish doing so, I did it.  And I'm happy with it!

I started with a plain piece of Vanilla Cardstock from CloseToMyHeart

Then I added Tim Holtz idea-ology mask Concerto

Sprayed with Tattered Angels Chalkboard Astrid (very light purple, looks blue in pic) & London Fog (tan)

Next I layered my photo on top of Teresa Collins' Journey tag & put that on a piece of CloseToMyHeart cardstock in Desert Sand, Distressing the base with Prima's awesome Distress Tool, and finally topped the whole thing with a little bit of journaling.

The "band" alphas are from Bo Bunny Chunky Chips in Black

Last I made rosettes with just my paper trimmer, some Teresa Collins Noel Cardstock & Bling black brads from Making Memories

5th Grade Football

ok so this is over a year old but at least I've not gotten it scrapped!  yay, me!

I used Creative Scrappers Sketch #238 which at first I didn't care for at all but then I kept looking & looking  until I finally decided I could, infact use it for this pic of my little man

You are Stinkin' Cute

yes, yes you are!  and so is this digi from DearieDollsDigis and at my favorite price too... Free!  insert me doing cartwheels here

Sketch provided by Sketch Frenzy Friday, it's from 122112

Printed Paper - Pebbles Seen & Noted 6x6 pad

Digi colored with Copic markers

Flower - Prima

Brad - Making Memories

ok so I should have looked at my pic before putting all my stuff away because the one of the left is the correct color... the one on the right has a green tint because my curtains in the craft room are lime green ;-)

I made the skunk gray because I tried one with Copic N10 & N8 but it was way too dark, I couldn't see his little face so I switched over to light grays... guess I need to purchase more markers! HA

I love Digis

I do!  You can have SO MANY and not have them take up any space in the old craft room :-)  I found Robert Jackson thru Sandy Allnock at Operation Write Home.  And even though his digis are not free, they are so different from others I've seen I decided to purchase a few that I thought I could really use.  Here are two of the ones I purchased... I love them!

I used Deconstructed Jen's Sketch #82 for all of these

This first group of three cards, I tried my hand at making their skin look Hispanic and am pretty happy with how they turned out.

This second group I went with African-American families.  I tried a couple of different colors to get them where I like them, I'm happy with how they all turn out.

All Digis are colored with Copic markers.

Let me know if you have suggestions on how I can improve them!

My Crib

no not my whole house... just my crafty space!

I dug out the old crib springs & cleaned them up while I was waiting for the family to get out of bed this morning.  This afternoon after all the gifts were opened, a trip to my oldest son's best friend was made for their exchange & back home again, my handy dandy husband made blocks for the wall & got it hung up for me!  I think it looks FANTASTIC with a few cards I've received... I'll add more as I get them so maybe some time in the future if you send me a card you might just see it on the crib wall!

Here's what that whole corner/side of the room looks like:
my room isn't a very big room plus it has a double window (6' wide x 5' tall) on the back wall, a single glass door to the kitchen, and double glass doors to the living room... wall space is prime real estate in my world!

Thank You for Everything

I really enjoy Operation Write Home's Midweek Throwdown Challenges!  This week it's a color combo: red, white & blue

I combined OWH's challenge with Tuesday Morning Sketches #177, I enjoyed this sketch so much that I ended up making a Baker's Dozen... each slightly different

Aren't these Digi Stamps the cutest?  I just came across this blog last night & spend a couple of hours going back as far as I could to snag as many freebies as possible!  and let me tell ya, I got a lot :-)

bunches of butterflies

For these I used Operation Write Home Sketch #151 and some scraps of this beautiful paper from My Mind's Eye called OohLaLa in 6x6

Stamp - Tim Holtz Papillon

Ink - CloseToMyHeart Black

Distress Ink - Tim Holtz Frayed Burlap

Twine - The Twinery

I mixed them all up so no two are just alike, I even played with the twine until I found I like them horizontally on one piece of paper the best

Homework

I belong to this Private/Secret Group on Facebook to help me 1.save money (it worked the first month but this month, I failed!) 2.use the supplies I have (most definitely working nicely).  We issue challenges to each other every Sunday which we have an entire month to get done & posted to the group, this time the challenge was called "Write It Out" using those papers that have lines or specific patterns on it for journaling, plus at least 5 sentences, a picture, at least one piece of patterned paper and embellishments.

I combined this challenge with Sketch# 239 over on Creative Scrappers and I'm so very happy with how this page has turned out!

Here's the pull-out tag:

*This was a Basic Grey kind of layout... I used Origins & Wisteria for the embellishment papers & a few stickers (yes, I used stickers... it was shocking to me as well!)
*Page Base is from a very old Making Memories paper pack called Just Chillin' Boys.
*Ink Drops - Tim Holtz Distress Stain in Weathered Wood & Peeled Paint; plus Making Memories Ochre
*Bling - Pebbles Jewel Candy Dots
*Paper Clip - making memories Paperie Greenhouse
*Twine - The Twinery
*Alpha Stickers - MyMind'sEye Lush Green
