ADORNit - bloom where planted

Bonus ADORNit Project!
We were given a deadline of 9am on Dec. 31 but a few people needed a bit more time to get their projects completed... I took advantage of that & made yet another project!
Which is a good thing because I completely forgot to make something using the
How cool looking is that?!

I traced the Bracket onto ADORNit Mint Pixie Dots 12x12 paper & fussy cut it out
I used Mod Podge in to adhere it to the Bracket.
Using Faber-Castell Gelatos, I colored an ADORNit Art Play Paintables Bloom.
After gluing down the Paintables, I used a circle stencil & Gelatos to create a sun.
Washi came in handy for above & below the Paintables plus a few blue Skittles
(received from So Suzy Stamps) and some sequins around the flowers.
The dragonflies were cut on Cricut using the Camp Out cartridge,
I painted the dragonflies with Smooch.
Last I attached the pale blue ribbon from Close To My Heart.

ADORNit - faith

All these wonderful ADORNit Art Play Paintables images were created by
Lindsay Ostrom and I'd like to give her a big Congrats on a job well done!

This image came from Art Play Printables - Home

I had really already created everything I was going to create for this blog hop
{since I got the flu and was out of commission for 3 days}
but today I started feeling better & better as the day progressed so I thought I'd sit in my craft room.
Well once you're sitting in your craft room, you may as well make something.
I glance around and spy this 5x7 frame hanging empty on the side of a bookcase.
Obviously that needs to change & today was that day.

For the 5x7 base piece I chose Mint Damask from ADORNit's Blender Basics
I colored in the Art Play Paintable Home using Faber-Castell Gelatos
For the clouds I outlined them using Liquid Pearls in White Opal, then
using my paintbrush, I filled the interior of the clouds with the Liquid Pearls.
On the starts, I filled them all in using stickles in Star Dust.
Roses were all cut on Cricut using the Close To My Heart Cartridge Art Philosophy from the Pink Pixie Dots, Pink Chevron & Beige Pixie Dots (colored those using Gelatos in Metallic Melon)
Green vine is from May Arts

ADORNit - wood plaque

Oh My Gosh! When I opened up this package I was GIDDY with excitement!
It immediately came to me what I wanted to do this this ADORNit
Wood Plaque Life is Beautiful

I started out by using Liqiutex Gesso over the entire wood base piece
Setting aside the wood letters for later use

Next I applied Twinkling H20's over the entire surface, working from the sky down to the grass
I hit it with the heat embossing tool to make sure all colors were completely dried before moving on

No photo for this step: using Unity's Stamp Company's Wild Poppy Silhouette (Donna Downey was the artist), I colored it quickly using Faber-Castell PITT artist pen big brush in Black and stamped for some faint floral images.

Using Donna Downey's Stencil with Faber-Castell PITT artist pen big brush in Black,
I carefully colored in just those flowers (the poppies) on top of the stamped poppies.
This step took quite a while and I used a tapping movement instead of brushing.

I found I had two chipboard Swallows from UmWow Studios which I painted
using Twinkling H20's in Black, along with a floral piece I painted using Twinkling H20's in rainforest. Once dry, I applied to the wood base using Yes!Paste

No photo for this step: I used Tim Holtz Distress Inks on the letting as the word "beautiful" was slightly darker than all the other letters, I just kept using various shades of brown until I got the look I wanted.

Using Yes!Paste, I positioned all letting where I thought they would look best.

ADORNit - Inspirational Walls

ADORNit has some fabulous fabrics in some very different prints
I loved every sample I received, from the light grey with black dots to the bold orange pattern
(the orange will eventually end up in my living room somewhere as I completely adore it)
But for this wall hanging, I chose to use the Burlap Beige for my rosettes along the
the very best of all the 12x12 wall hanging size inspirational printed
Choose Happy Art Play Prints
 Super simple rosettes, I cut strips about 1" wide and rolled them up using a bit of hot glue {ouch}
to keep them from un-rolling

This great drop-in frame I found at the Canvas Corp Warehouse in Springdale, Arkansas
(just down the highway from me)
Cream Lace from Spare Parts & Taupe Lace from My Mind's Eye Indie Chic, both hot glued on
Butterfly was cut on Cricut, three layers from Basic Grey Paper plus I added Wink of Stella on top layer
Large pearl embellishment is an old Christmas ornament from 2010

I attached the pretty little rosettes to the frame using more hot glue but this cute burlap flower
which I placed a Prima Pebble in the middle of

Here are a few other 12x12 prints ADORNit sent to us:
I always like to have something inspirational on our back door (which is at the bottom of our stairs) for the family to read, to help get their day going in a positive direction! I LOVE these & couldn't pick just one.
I just used some Washi Tape a friend gave me around all four sides of each to hang them up with.

ADORNit - Messenger Bag

For a while now, I have been needing a new purse
but I love my old purse... it's purple! and I get loads of compliments on it but alas it is time for replacement.
I was just strolling around Pinterest when I ran across I a Messenger Bag & a Purse I really liked,
What's a girl to do when she can't choose between the two? Why mix it up, of course!
The Messenger Bag had instructions {CLICK HERE} but the Purse was for sale (no instructions)
Changes I made to the bag: All pockets were added to the interior of the bag while I placed
two pockets on the flap, one inside & one outside.

ADORNit has some fabulous fabrics, this one is mostly yellow but does has a slight blue grid through it
it's called Burnish Mustard

Outside pocket
this is where I will keep my car keys

Inside Pocket
I'm not sure how much I'll use this one but maybe for
receipts.... we'll see

My AWESOMELY AMAZING new Upcycled Blue Jeans Purse!

and a special THANK YOU goes out to my dear husband who is so very much better using the Sewing Machine than I am! Basically he followed the instructions while I stuck with the creative stuff ;-)

ADORNit - feathers

ADORNit Art Play Paintables 12x12 sheets are so versatile to use
this wonderful feather with an Emily Dickinson sentiment if from

I created the basic white tag with heavy cardstock
Using Tombow Mono Liquid Glue Aqua to attached the Art Play image
I added Liquitex Coarse Texture Gel on the tag base making sure not to get it on the Art Play
Once dry, I painted everything using Twinkling H2O's in various bright colors
Including these wood feathers from Prima
I placed a hot pink pearl brad from My Mind's Eye Lush through the centers
of these lovely crushed velvet flowers from 7 Gypsies
Fibers tied onto feathers from my miscellaneous collection
Using Tombo Mono Liquid Glue Aqua I adheared the feathers to the tag along the visible edges
of the Art Play piece
and topped it all off with these old Basic Grey Fibers

ADORNit - buzz buzz

ADORNit bless us with some goodies that are not even on the market yet!
you can also find them on Facebook
Today I'm showcasing a pre-printed 4x6 card (it comes on a 12x12 sheet)
with 3 additional prints, they are called
Designed by Lindsay Ostrom

SUNFLOWER: I started coloring the Sunflower using Gelatos in Tangerine, Mango, Lemon, Butter Cream with a touch of Coconut on the darkest area just to lighten it up a little bit. For the Leaf I used Gelatos in Green Tea & Pistachio. For the first steps I only used my fingers to blend the colors.
SENTIMENT: After that I grabbed a Faber-Caseetll Crayon, tracing & coloring each letter which I then melted using a heat tool. After that, I applied Gelatos in Snow Cone using my fingers then I grabbed my water brush & tried to keep the blue from completely covering the white it it looks kinda like the sky.
LITTLE BEE: Next using a Faber-Castell PITT artist pen big brush in Black, I colored in the little bee's swirls {Unity Stamp Company set called Bee Happy Hexagons} and topped with Wink of Stella in Clear.
Last was the little bee I stamped using Color Box in Black which I heat set & fussy cut.
I applied Smooch Pearlized Accent Ink in Sundance to his tiny body, some Wink of Stella in Clear on his wings & stuck him on using a piece of foam tape.
CARD: I trimmed down the card to 3-3/4"x5-1/4" and  added a 3-3/4" strip of Doodlebug Design's Paper Frills behind the Sunflower. Next I cut my dark brown card front, mounted the colored image, and warped a piece of May Arts Jute around 3 times & tied a knot.
Mounted on a side open white cardbase.
